Lifecycle NotesEggs are laid singly on flower buds of host plants. Larvae are slug-like and feed on flowers and fruits, often attended by ants. Pupae overwinter.
Identification TipsDistinguished from other *Celastrina* azures by its slightly larger size, earlier flight period, and strong association with Black Cohosh (*Actaea racemosa*) as a host plant. The underside typically lacks prominent markings.

Description

A small butterfly with a pale, almost white or very light gray underside, often with very faint dark spots. The dorsal side is typically iridescent blue, especially in males.
