Identification TipsLook for the distinctive broad black bands and spots on a white ground color on the underside of the wings. The upperside, when visible, is iridescent blue. It often has a small, delicate tail on the hindwing.
Description
A small butterfly with a striking black and white checkered pattern on the underside of its wings, and a brilliant metallic blue on the upperside (not visible in this image).
