Lifecycle NotesThe larvae feed on various herbaceous plants and shrubs, overwintering before pupating in the soil in spring. Adults emerge in early summer.
Identification TipsKey identification features include the overall reddish-brown or light brown coloration with a speckled appearance, and the often faint kidney-shaped (reniform) and circular (orbicular) markings on the forewings. The pale hindwings are also a useful distinguishing characteristic.
Description
A medium-sized moth with light brown to reddish-brown forewings, heavily speckled with darker brown and featuring indistinct reniform and orbicular stigmata. The hindwings are paler, often whitish.
