Lifecycle NotesEggs are laid singly on the leaves of host plants, primarily various species of dock (Rumex). Larvae are slug-like and feed on the host foliage, pupating near the ground. Typically one brood per year.
Identification TipsLook for the distinctive pale gray underside with black spots and the bright orange submarginal band on the hindwings. The upperside is generally duller gray-brown with some orange.
