Description

The Small Tortoiseshell is a vibrant and widely recognized butterfly, characterized by its striking orange-red wings. The forewings feature prominent black and yellow patches, while both forewings and hindwings display a distinctive row of blue spots along the margins. The underside of the wings is dark and cryptic, providing excellent camouflage when the butterfly is at rest. It is a common visitor to gardens and open habitats across its range.
