Description

The Dingy Skipper is a small, dark, and rather drab butterfly, often mistaken for a moth due to its dull coloration and rapid, darting flight. Its wings are mottled grey-brown with indistinct darker markings, giving it a 'dingy' appearance. The underside of the hindwing is typically plain grey-brown. It has a distinctive resting posture with wings held partially open and flat.
