Description

The Common Grass Yellow is a small to medium-sized butterfly characterized by its bright yellow wings. The dorsal side of the forewing features a broad black margin along the apex and termen, which can be irregular or toothed. The hindwing typically has a narrower black margin, which may be faint or absent in some individuals. The ventral side is usually paler yellow, often adorned with reddish-brown markings or spots, particularly in dry season forms. This species exhibits significant seasonal dimorphism, with wet season forms being brighter yellow with more prominent black markings, and dry season forms being paler, sometimes with reddish suffusion and reduced black markings. Females often have broader black margins and can be slightly paler than males.
