Description

The Yellow Pansy (*Junonia hierta*) is a vibrant, medium-sized butterfly belonging to the Nymphalidae family. It is widely distributed across sub-Saharan Africa and parts of tropical Asia. Characterized by its bright yellow wings with distinct black margins and prominent, often ocellated (eyespotted) markings on the hindwings, it is a common sight in open habitats. The species exhibits seasonal dimorphism, with dry-season forms typically having duller coloration and less pronounced markings compared to the wet-season forms. Its flight is often low and erratic.
