Description

The Danaid Eggfly, also known as the Diadem, is a medium-sized, sexually dimorphic butterfly renowned for its Batesian mimicry. Males are typically black with large, iridescent white patches, while females are highly polymorphic, mimicking various unpalatable Danaus species, most notably the Plain Tiger (Danaus chrysippus). This mimicry provides protection from predators. It is a strong flyer and can be found in a variety of open habitats.
