The Poplar Admiral (Limenitis populi) is a large and distinctive butterfly belonging to the Nymphalidae family. It is characterized by its dark, often iridescent, wings with prominent white bands and a row of orange or red spots near the wing margins. The underside typically features a mosaic of orange, white, and black markings. Its larvae feed primarily on aspen (Populus tremula) and other poplar species, hence its common name. Adults are known for their strong, gliding flight.
