Lifecycle NotesEggs are laid in clusters on the underside of host plant leaves. Larvae are green with yellow stripes and black spots, feeding gregariously. Pupae are typically green or grey-brown, often found attached to walls or fences.
Identification TipsDistinguished from the similar Small White (Pieris rapae) by its larger size, more extensive black forewing tips, and the more pronounced black spots on the female's forewings. Larvae are also gregarious and more brightly marked.

Description

A large white butterfly characterized by prominent black tips on the forewings. Females also possess two distinct black spots on each forewing.
