Lifecycle NotesEggs are laid singly on host plant leaves or flower buds. Larvae feed on leaves and flowers, and pupation occurs on the host plant or nearby vegetation. Some larvae may have myrmecophilous associations with ants.
Identification TipsLook for the characteristic underside pattern of white streaks on a brown background, the distinct orange and black eyespot near the hindwing tornus, and the two short tails. The upperside, when visible, is a brilliant iridescent blue.

Description

A small butterfly with a dull brown underside adorned with fine white wavy lines, distinguished by a prominent orange patch containing a black spot and two delicate tails on the hindwing.
