Lifecycle NotesEggs are laid singly on or near violet host plants. Larvae are dark and spiny, overwintering as small caterpillars before pupating near the ground.
Identification TipsLook for the distinctive row of silvery-white, pearl-like spots on the underside of the hindwing, particularly along the outer margin. Can be distinguished from the similar Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary by the less extensive silvering and more defined underside markings.

Description

A medium-sized fritillary with bright orange upperwings heavily marked with black spots and lines. The underside of the hindwing is yellowish-orange with a distinctive row of silvery-white, pearl-like spots along the margin.
