Lifecycle NotesEggs are laid singly on the underside of host plant leaves. The larvae are green and velvety, feeding on the leaves. Pupae are angled and can be green or brown, camouflaged on plants or nearby structures.
Identification TipsDistinguished from the similar Large White (*Pieris brassicae*) by its smaller size, less extensive black markings on the forewing tips, and fewer, smaller spots. The underside of the hindwing is typically yellowish-white with fine black dusting.

Description

A small to medium-sized butterfly with predominantly white wings, typically featuring small black tips on the forewings and one or two black spots on the upper side of the forewing in females. In this painting, it appears as a bright white, indistinct form.
