Lifecycle NotesEggs are laid singly on flower buds. Larvae feed on the flowers and developing fruits of various host plants. Pupae may overwinter, and there are typically multiple generations per year.
Identification TipsDistinguished from other azure species by its typically paler ventral hindwing with minimal or no spotting, and its later flight period from late spring through fall. The dorsal side is a brighter, more uniform blue than the Spring Azure.
Description
A small, delicate butterfly with pale blue to white wings on the underside, often with a few small black spots. The dorsal side of the wings is typically an iridescent sky blue.
