Lifecycle NotesEggs are laid singly on host plants. The spiny caterpillars are mottled brown and white, resembling bird droppings. Adults overwinter.
Identification TipsThe most reliable identification feature is the unique, deeply scalloped and jagged outline of its wings, especially the hindwings. The white 'C' mark on the underside of the hindwing is also diagnostic.
