Description
The Question Mark Butterfly (Polygonia interrogationis) is a medium-sized brush-footed butterfly native to eastern North America. It is easily recognized by its distinctive ragged wing edges and a small, silvery mark on the underside of its hindwing that resembles a question mark or semicolon. The upperside of its wings is typically orange-brown with black spots. This species exhibits seasonal dimorphism, with summer forms generally being lighter in color and winter forms appearing darker. Its larvae feed on various host plants, including elm, hackberry, nettles, and hops.
