Description
The Common Blue is a small to medium-sized butterfly. Males typically display iridescent violet-blue uppersides with a narrow black border and white fringe. Females are usually brown on the upperside, often with a variable amount of blue scaling near the body and a row of orange spots along the hindwing margin. Both sexes feature a greyish-brown underside with black spots ringed in white, and a distinct row of orange spots on the hindwing.
