Description
A medium-sized butterfly with a wingspan of 40-55 mm. Males are uniformly dark brown on the upperside, often with a small, indistinct black eyespot near the apex of the forewing. Females are generally lighter brown with a more prominent orange patch on the forewing, which contains a distinct black eyespot. The underside of the hindwing is typically mottled brown and grey, providing camouflage. They are often observed flying low over vegetation.
