Lifecycle NotesEggs are laid singly on host grasses. Larvae are green with a rough texture, two caudal filaments, and a bifid head. Pupae are green or brown, suspended by the cremaster.
Identification TipsLook for the dull brown underside with a characteristic series of small, dark, white-ringed ocelli on both fore and hindwings, often accompanied by a wavy submarginal line. The upperside is uniformly dark brown with indistinct ocelli.
Description
A small to medium-sized butterfly with a dull brown upperside and a cryptic, mottled light brown underside featuring a series of small, dark, white-ringed eyespots and a wavy submarginal line.
